Eneko Calvo has presented the process of restoring the giants of Irungo Atsegiña Society to the audience in Gordailua, not only society members but also members of other giants groups from Gipuzkoa.
The restoration is being carried out by the specialized workshop “Eskuartean”, from Pamplona. Four of the eight giants are ready to dance in San Marcial Festivity (Irún); nevertheless, the other four will do it the next year. Calvo did not want to go into details about the history and evolution of these giants, because the research is not over yet, but he has anticipated that there will be very interesting surprises.
After that, the ethnographer Xabier Kerexeta gave a conference: “Giants: from mythology to choreography”. Eventually, a visit to Gordailua was made.
